Hodgsons Group

The company was established in 1985. and initially only ran taxis, but in 1988 branched out into minibuses with the purchase of two Mercedes Benz vehicles. In 1988 the first true coach was purchased, a 21 seat Toyota Optimo. Next the smaller minibuses were sold to make way for 19, 21, and 35 seat coaches, primarily due to an increasing number of school contracts.

In 1997 the first full size coach was purchased. This was a 1995 Bova Futura, and a was followed in 1998 with the acquisition of a 1996 Volvo BIOM.

2003 saw further expansion. and the first purchase of a brand new full size coach, another Volvo. In 2004 a second brand new coach was added in the form of a Dennis R series with Plaxton bodywork. No more new coaches were added until 2007, when an IVECO was added to the fleet. This was the longest coach in the fleet at the time, being 12.7 metres in length and was equipped with 55 seats and wc/washroom. The success of this vehicle lead to the purchase of a further 'extended" coaches, such as a 2010 registered Volvo B12R with 53 seat Plaxton coachwork.

In 2011 Hodgsons celebrated 25 years in business, and to celebrate the event, a Special Edition' Neoplan Tourliner was commissioned featuring 53 leather seats, executive washroom. and full climate control. This coach appeared at the 2011 Bus and Coach show at the NEC on the MAN stand., and the order was subsequently followed by a further order for a Neoplan. this time for a 13.8 metre variant with 61 seats.

Hodgsons work now includes contracts for major UK tour operators. as well as private hire, school transport and local bus services.
